Bible Re-Covering

California Prisons do not permit any hardback books into their facilities and it is for this reason that we have partnered with Gideon International to repurpose the Gideon bibles they have donated to us.  Bible Re-covering takes place on a Saturday, once a month on the patio area from 8:00am – 11:00am. The process of re-covering these bibles happens in 6 work stations.

1st station – This group flips through the pages of the donated Gideon bibles looking for any inappropriate writing, damage, or added content.

2nd station – Tears off hard covers from the binding by hand.

3rd station – Folds the brand new soft covers and preps them for station 4.

4th station – Glues soft covers onto the spine.

5th station – Sets out each bible for drying.

6th station – Packs and boxes the bibles for shipping.

After 3 hours of working together and fellowshipping, this ministry finishes between 1,200-1,500 bibles. These bibles are then shipped to several different prisons throughout California with the desire to bring inmates hope and freedom in Christ.
