CC Mexicali Women’s Retreat 2011

“CC Mexicali Women’s Retreat”.  On the weekend of April 15-16, servants from CCCV had the opportunity to come alongside the ministry at CC Mexicali, as they hosted their annual “Women’s Retreat”.  We were able to provide child care to  free up moms and servants so they could attend the retreat.  On Friday evening the kids enjoyed various games and then dinner.  After more games and as darkness fell upon us,  the kids attentively watched some videos of famous missionaries.  They also enjoyed the pretzel and cookie snacks.  On Saturday morning after breakfast, the kids worked on a Mother’s Day card and bracelet for their moms as well as salvation bracelets for themselves.  It was a great opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel with them and to encourage them to share their faith with others.  Mexicali remains largely catholic but in a cultural way, so there are many yet to be reached for the Lord.   Before lunch, the kids broke into teams, the Pumas and Chivas, and had a great time playing soccer.  After l pizza-on-french bread lunch, each of the kids received a soccer medal (donated by AYSO families) for various Christian characteristics.  Then they completed their crafts.  As the team was departing, we got to say our good-byes and get plenty of hugs from the kids.  They were truly, truly a blessing to us.
Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me”.  Mtt. 25:40.
One thing that rang so very true was that serving the kids, their families and the ministry, was like touching God Himself.  And anyone who has been on a missions trip knows that while we go with hearts to bless, we are the ones who are blessed the most.
Pray for the children and their families.  The the ministry would be faithful to raise up the next generation of believers who will be a light in a dark world.
