WHO IS INVITED?
Whether you attend Calvary Chapel Chino Valley, have a home church, or have never been to church, this event is for all men in the community. A commonly asked question we receive is, “Can I bring my son?” If you believe that your son can quietly sit through four teachings, we welcome him to join us. The Men’s Conference is recommended for ages 12 and up.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
At 8:00am, we start the morning off with breakfast on our church grounds. We will be serving breakfast burritos, coffee, and orange juice. After the breakfast ends, men move into the Sanctuary for the conference which begins at 9:00am. We have four speakers who will be sharing powerful messages. These messages will focus on some of the daily challenges specific to men. Chances are, you will find yourself fitting right in and relating.
Dress is casual. For example, men come in t-shirts, jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, and sandals. If you own a Bible, you will want to bring it, or you may use your preferred Bible app on your phone. If you do not own a Bible, we have Bibles in the Sanctuary that you are welcome to use.
We understand that Saturday mornings are used for working around the house or relaxing and sleeping in. Whichever it may be for you, we believe that attending this once-a-year event will be worth your morning. You will leave motivated and challenged as a leader and man.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO ATTEND?
We encourage all men attending to join us for breakfast and to purchase a ticket before May 30th. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased after our church services on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings or in the church office Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. On this webpage, you are also able to conveniently purchase tickets and pick them up at Will Call which will be setup in our courtyard the morning of the conference. If you are unable to join us for breakfast, we invite you to come at 9:00am when the conference begins in the Sanctuary. Tickets are not required to enter the Sanctuary for the teachings.
WHAT IS THE THEME?
This year, our conference theme is, “Walk Worthy” (1 Thessalonians 2:12, Ephesians 4:1). Throughout the Bible, we are given examples of walking: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23:4) and we see in Psalm 1:1, “Walk not in the counsel of the ungodly.” Jesus, in John 12:35, instructs us to, “Walk when it is light; he who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he is going.” This gives us insight to the importance of walking in the holiness of our Lord. Does this mean that we must be perfect? Not at all, but it does mean living a life that is set apart for the Lord, like how Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 6:17, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.” By focusing on this theme, our goal is to encourage and equip men to live an honorable life that is pleasing to the Lord and will eternally impact those around them.
WHO ARE THE SPEAKERS?
PASTOR DAVID ROSALES – CALVARY CHAPEL CHINO VALLEY
After accepting Christ on December 27, 1970 at the age of 20, God transformed the life of David Rosales. Saved out of a life of drug and alcohol abuse, he was dramatically transformed and began a life of pursuing the Lord. David was ordained as a pastor in 1979 while serving at Calvary Chapel Claremont, where he also served as an assistant pastor. In 1981, David left Calvary Chapel Claremont to plant what later became Calvary Chapel Chino Valley. Pastor David has been in ministry for over 40 years and continues to have an intense desire to see the lost come to Jesus. Pastor David’s ministry extends beyond the Chino Valley through his radio program A Sure Foundation, and through various teaching opportunities across the country and around the world. He has traveled to countries such as Austria, China, Colombia, El Salvador, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Peru, and the Philippines, evangelizing and teaching the Bible in a verse-by-verse style.
PASTOR RAUL RIES – CALVARY CHAPEL GOLDEN SPRINGS
Graduating from high school, Raul joined the Marines and fought fiercely for his country in Vietnam, earning him two purple hearts for bravery. Already filled with anger, the war fed the fire in his heart, filling him with an all-consuming rage, which he brought home with him. Seeking refuge from the fury in his heart, Raul married a Christian girl he knew in high school and wrote to throughout his time in Vietnam. However, her love for him could not tame the anger within. Coming home one night and fearing that his wife had taken his children and left him, in a moment of fury, he decided to end it all by destroying his family and shooting it out with the police. God intervened through Chuck Smith who was on the television being interviewed. Raul then surrendered his troubled life to Jesus Christ right in front of the TV set. His life was completely transformed, his marriage restored, and he was empowered, by the Holy Spirit, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today, more than 35 years after his miraculous conversion, Raul continues to faithfully pastor Calvary Chapel Golden Springs.
Born in the steel town of Gary, Indiana, Tony dutifully attended weekly church services, yet had no understanding of what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. He went to church on Sundays but lived life his own way Monday through Saturday. Shortly after joining the Marine Corps, Tony received orders to be stationed thousands of miles away in Okinawa, Japan. Even though Tony didn’t realize it, God’s plan for him would unfold in this foreign land. Going to Okinawa proved to be a God-ordained adventure because it was there that Tony recognized his need for a Savior and committed his life to the Lord. It was in Okinawa that the Lord also revealed to Tony that he would one day become a pastor. For more than 23 years, Tony has pastored Calvary Chapel Newport News in Newport News, Virginia.
Don was a baby-boomer who grew up thinking he was a Christian because “everyone” born in America was a Christian. When he was a junior in college, the Lord helped me truly understand His love and power to change a life through Jesus. Don came to Christ at a Billy Graham Los Angeles Crusade in the 1960’s. While completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona, he sensed the call of God on his life to follow Jesus Christ completely and possibly forget business and prepare for ministry. Over the years, Don has served as an assistant pastor to Chuck Smith at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, pastored Calvary Chapel Lake Arrowhead, founded Calvary Chapel Bible College, pastored Calvary Chapel Redlands, and planted Calvary Chapel San Jose. Don has now responded to a long-time desire to step out and serve the churches, schools, and missionaries through teaching at conferences, retreats, Bible colleges, intern programs, church services, and any other door God opens. This new season of his life is what he calls, “Calvary Way Ministries.”
