The Pomona Outreach team serves those less fortunate in the city of Pomona. The goal is to provide for their physical and spiritual needs. These monthly outreach events include worship, a gospel message, prayer, evangelism, food, clothing, toiletries, reading glasses, haircuts, hygiene supplies, and more. Children are ministered to with lessons and crafts. Occasionally portable showers are provided, along with a barber and manicurists. Clothing, shoes, and bedding are donated to those who come to receive.
There are many areas of service to participate in at a Pomona Outreach event:
Set up/Tear Down
Setting up canopies, tables, and sound equipment before and after the event.
On the morning of the event, a team will cook a meal to feed between 200-300 people. Once the food is dropped off, a kitchen team will assemble containers for each guest that is registered.
Sort through donated clothes. This is where we have servants to organize and place the clothes on tables for those less fortunate.
We have the supplies necessary to give those living on the street a new haircut or trim but need volunteers with at least a basic level of experience in cutting hair using scissors and/or a razor. All services are free to our guests.
We are always taking new/gently used clothing and brand new hygiene products so any contributions are greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at the front office during office hours Mon-Fri 9am-5pm or at the gazebo after a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening service.
Servants make themselves available at our Prayer Station where we set up a booth so that our guests may freely receive prayer.
We’re always looking to provide more services to those who are in need.
Those with a burdened heart for the homeless community are highly encouraged to join this group. It is preferred, but not required, that servants on this team can speak both English and Spanish. If interested, fill out or make sure you have a ministry application on file. Then, contact Kristen Yamamoto.
